What happens after a litter pick?

While litter picks are a fantastic way to improve your local community, meet new people and get involved, it can quickly be disheartening to see litter return.

An example of this occurred shortly after the Glasgow Spring Clean.

On Saturday, 10th of April, some volunteers cleaned up a Bus stop next to the express way.

Returning to work before 8am on Monday, 12th of April, the offender had clearly returned, and the cycle started again:

Not only is this hugely frustrating for all of the hard work that went into voluntarily cleaning up someone else’s mess, it also demonstrates how this problem cannot be solved by clean up alone.

Personal responsibility, and access to bins (there is no bin at the bus stop) both need to change if clean ups are to have a long-lasting impact.
